# Link desktop to mobile

Move connected wallet and exchange access from desktop to mobile with a secure QR handoff

You can move connected trading access from a desktop session to a phone with a temporary QR code. The handoff can include all registered wallet and exchange accounts, not only the account currently selected, along with News trading account selections for those accounts.

## From desktop

1. Open the connected account menu in Terminal.
2. Choose **Link mobile**.
3. Show the QR code to the phone.
4. Wait for the phone to scan and display a six-digit verification code.
5. Confirm that the code matches on both screens.
6. Approve **Send trading access** or **Send account & trading access**.

The QR session expires. If it expires before approval, create a new QR code.

## From mobile

1. Open the wallet or account connection flow.
2. Choose **Scan desktop QR**.
3. Allow camera access when asked.
4. Scan the QR code shown on desktop.
5. Confirm the six-digit code matches the desktop.
6. Wait for desktop approval.

When the handoff completes, the phone can use the imported access without reopening the wallet extension. News trading selections are restored when their corresponding accounts are transferred.

## Safety checks

Verify the code before approving. The relay sees public keys and encrypted data, and the encrypted payload is removed after a successful handoff. Imported trading access cannot withdraw funds.

Only approve a QR handoff you started yourself. Do not scan codes from unknown devices or messages.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.proliquid.xyz/getting-started/linking-desktop-to-mobile.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
